Rick Forsyth, PPWS, a retired Professor of Landscape Architecture and former Director of the Italian Studies Program in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design at Kansas State University, has long been involved with drawing and painting, particularly with watercolor. His fondness for the natural landscape and architecture, and the special quality of light in creating mood and atmosphere, has been the source of inspiration for his paintings.
His paintings have won many awards in local, state, regional, and national exhibitions including Best of Show in the North Shore Lake Superior Art Exhibition in Lutsen, Minnesota. Rick, who has lived in Colorado Springs since 2012, has also won awards for his watercolors in the Colorado Watercolor Society’s Annual State Exhibition in 2013 and 2014, the Aquarius National Exhibition sponsored by the Southern Colorado Watercolor Society in Pueblo, the Annual Members Exhibition of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society where he is a Signature Member, the Sunny Vista Art Exhibition, 2015, and international exhibitions at the Centro Studi di Santa Chiara, Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy in 1999, 2001, 2005 and the Centro Studi di Citta di Orvieto in Orvieto, Italy in 2009 and 2011. |
